SoCO Children
Upon spotting me, a little girl that I recognised from our last event screamed at the top of her lungs "PIZZA"! There was another band of kids crowding around the oven today, all vying for a chance to try their hands at reheating pizza as well. I was initially worried about heading up to the center alone this time, but with an entire cohort of helpers with me, time passed like a blur. Even one of the nurses commented that she had never seen the kids eat so fast!
I also had another moment that made all the hard work worth it today. A girl came up to me, and told me very seriously that she was full. I smiled, happy to hear it, but she added, "I usually can't eat until I'm full at home. But today I'm full". I'm incredibly grateful that she shared this with me - and even more appreciative that our work here has made a difference. 2024 October 18
SoCO Chinese Orchestra
Today, I was greeted by the title of "Pizza 姐姐"! It was wonderful to see even more familiar faces - and I do take being recognised as a great sign of building further connections with this center. All of the kids were super energetic today, laughing and running around. Notably, a little girl did ask whether she could help me reheat some of their pizzas - which I happily agreed to! She was very proud of her success with the oven. 2024 October 4
SoCO & SEN Families
Visiting another one of SoCo's community centers, we were able to share pizza with 15 SEN - Special Educational Needs - families, who had a large gathering today! The response this time was overwhelmingly positive, with several children and their parents coming up to us to compliment our piping hot pizzas. We also had a lovely new friend, Audrey Wu, join us with our operations today, and she was an amazing help with the larger, bulk deliveries today. 2024 June 14
SoCO Children
Revisiting the center from our first event, we shared pizza today with over thirty children who had just finished their afternoon homework and studies with SoCo. We were able to see some familiar faces this week from our previous events, which was an absolute pleasure. Always great to see everyone enjoying some old favourite pizza flavours! 2024 April 29
SoCO Chinese Orchestra
SoCo runs a program supporting young students of Hong Kong with a passion for musical instruments. It features detailed instruction on their traditional Chinese instrument of choice. The students recently held their first concert, and to celebrate, we partnered with them to contribute some pizzas for their feast. It was an honour being a part of their event, to be surrounded by young people who are working hard on their craft. 2024 Feb 02
Our First Event!
Our first event was for the children who participate in SoCO's after school daycare system, for parents who work in the afternoons. There were kids from 6-10 years old, and it was insightful to see that some of them didn't know what ingredients were on the pizza. 2023 Dec 23
